Dear all,

My name is Martina and I’ll be joining the VR4eVR project as a PhD candidate in Information and Computing Sciences at Utrecht University, as a member of the Visualization and Graphics (VIG) Group within the Interaction Team. Prior to joining Utrecht University, I studied Statistics and worked as a Data Scientist in the financial sector, first at the European Central Bank and later at Prometeia, a consultancy firm. My research interests lie in how VA techniques can enhance the accessibility and transparency of AI models throughout their life cycle, from early data exploration to model explainability and real-world deployment.

Within VR4eVR, I will design and implement VA systems to analyze complex data from patients undergoing rehabilitation for hemianopia, a form of partial blindness often caused by stroke. This data, collected through Virtual Reality training programs, includes eye-tracking metrics, task progression, and success rates. The goal is to support occupational therapists and medical professionals in monitoring patient progress and improving rehabilitation outcomes.

I’m truly excited to begin this new chapter and to work on such a multidisciplinary and impactful project!
